credit mobility in higher education

In mobility projects, students, recent graduates, teachers, and staff can acquire new professional knowledge and skills in an international environment and also pass on their knowledge.

What are the goals?

To participate in the creation of a European educational landscape. 

To strengthen the link between education and research. 

To develop students’ critical thinking. 

To increase employment, social and societal inclusion, innovation, and environmental sustainability. 

 

To give each student the opportunity to participate in the mobility for study or internship. 

To provide international teaching experience to teachers, including experts invited from enterprises, and to offer staff international self-improvement. 

To develop international and cross-sectoral curricula and innovative ways of learning and teaching. 

What are the priorities?

According to the European Union’s education policy, the priorities are divided into two: horizontal, i.e., cross-program and sectoral. The main topics are also directly related to the goals of Estonian education. 

Cross-program priorities

Inclusive Erasmus +

An organization arranging mobility in the framework of the Erasmus + program must respect the principles of inclusion and diversity in all aspects of its activities and must ensure fair and equal conditions for all participants in mobility projects. Where possible, the beneficiary organization should actively involve participants with fewer opportunities and make maximum use of the financial and other resources provided for in the program. 

Green Erasmus +

The beneficiary organization must promote environmentally friendly and environmentally responsible behavior among its participants, giving priority to sustainable modes of travel when organizing mobility, using the maximum financial resources provided for in the program.

Digital Erasmus+

The beneficiary organization should use digital tools and learning methods to complement physical mobility and improve cooperation with partner organizations. To this end, the digital tools, online platforms, and other opportunities offered by the program must be used to ensure the digital management of mobilities and partnerships. 

 

Which countries can be cooperated with? 

It is possible to go on mobility to program countries – all European Union Member States and European Economic Area countries and some candidate countries: 

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of North Macedonia, Spain, Sweden, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey. 

The international part of the program allows for mobility to all countries of the world.

How long does the project last?

The project lasts 26 months. 

The start and end dates of 2021 projects: 01.09.2021 – 31.10.2023. 

What acvities can be done?

  • Physical or blended exchange studies and internships for students and recent graduates. 
  • Short-term physical mobility of doctoral students. 
  • Physical or blended mobilities for teaching (incl. experts invited from enterprises) and for training. 
  • Blended intensive programs (or BIPs) for students or staff. 
  • Additional support of the Republic of Estonia for students and recent graduates. 
  • Additional support for students with fewer opportunities, both for study and internship purposes. 
  • Additional support for participants in favor of green travel. 
  • Additional support for participants with special needs, reimbursement of additional costs up to 100%. 
  • Additional support for interns. 

Only Estonian higher education institutions that have Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education can apply for Erasmus+ mobility projects.
